Surfing in Miami

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Many extreme sports aficionados are often surprised to hear that Miami has a legitimate surfing scene. The diverse Floridian coastline, with its range of picturesque beaches, is nothing short of a road-tripper's paradise. Don't limit your Miami trip to wining, dinning and shopping - let your sightseeing adventure coincide with surfing's oxy-moronic combination of relaxation and exhilaration. If you haven't done so already, set up the roof racks, wind down the window and let the swell chart dictate your next destination.

Overview

Miami's coast is beset with over 10 surf spots that all offer the extreme sports enthusiast something a little different. The excellent American roads enable travelers to reach every spot, without too much difficulty.

The Best Spots

South Beach - Miami's most renowned beach has also become a firm favorite for the local surfers. This spot can become a bit crowded at times, but the locals are reasonably amicable. South Beach is great for beginners because the waves are small and surfing lessons are often given here. If you are looking for some bigger swell, then you have to wait for a storm, or move onto a beach a little further north.

Harbor House - This spot lies just north of Miami Beach and it's perfect for a beginner, but can become a little annoying for someone who has been surfing for a while. The small waves in this area make it a perfect beach for an amateur to learn. If you are desperate for an overhead swell, then it's best to wait for a cyclone or surf elsewhere.

Dania South Beach - Drive just past Fort Lauderdale and find Dania South Beach. This lesser known gem has been known to throw up some excellent almond-shaped barrels from time to time. The spot is a little fickle, so don't feel disheartened if you find the surf flat. The spot is relatively uncrowded during the week, but be prepared to hustle for waves over the weekend.

Spoils - This spot is strictly for experienced surfers and it is therefore generally uncrowded. Whereas all the other spots have a sandy bottom, this one features the rocks and coral reef. The spot breaks very far out and you have to be a good surfer if you even want to try and surf here. The take off wedges and becomes very steep - you could easily end up landing face-first on the reef if you don't know what you are doing.

Picking up lessons

There are various sites on the net that offer surf lessons in the Miami area. You could either book before your arrival; or, just stroll along the beach and find someone surrounded by surfboards. The Miami locals are renowned for their friendliness, so don't ever hesitate to ask someone.

Do something a little different

Surfing is just one of the activities that you can participate in. There are a wide range of excellent opportunities that can meet the desires of every traveler. When you visit Miami, you should try to open your mind and experience as much as possible. There are so many things to see in Miami and you should never let your fears stop you from enjoying a fulfilling experience. Use your Miami holiday to reacquaint yourself with your inner-daredevil.

Due to the city's sweltering climate, Sydney's beaches are frequented throughout the year, attracting millions of tourists who are in the city for both business and pleasure.

With a wide selection available across the Pacific Ocean coastline and the harbours, bays and rivers of Sydney, you are never more than half an hour away from enjoying the best beaches in the country.

If your job has brought you to Sydney, no trip would be complete without taking some time out to visit Bondi Beach.

Whether you are keen to lie back and enjoy the sun or are looking to get the adrenaline pumping by trying out the local water sports facilities, there should be something to keep you occupied.

The beach, which is on the Australian National Heritage List, is approximately one kilometre long and is hazard-graded by Surf Life Saving Australia.

While the north end is rated a fairly sedate four, the south side is judged to be a seven due to a particularly famous rip current nicknamed the Backpackers' Express, making this area of the beach an attractive prospect for surfers hoping to show off their skills.

Around eight kilometres to the north-east of the central business district is Balmoral, one of Sydney's harbour beaches.

Made up of two separate beaches separated by an outcrop known as Rocky Point, Balmoral is a great place to head for the day if you are looking to experience local cuisine, as it has a number of restaurants situated along the main thoroughfare.

It also holds a variety of popular events, such as the annual Mudgee Wine Festival.

Coogee Beach is situated to the south-east of the business district and is an excellent place to take a trip during the day or evening, with the suburb also boasting some great nightlife to enjoy once the sun goes down.

Taking one of the many beautiful coastal walks is a must, while the beach itself is surrounded by lush parklands where you can join a host of free outdoor barbecues and picnics should you fancy a change from sea, sand and surf on your holiday.

The US Passport Renewal Fee

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

The US passport renewal fee was increased last year to $110. This was done after a thorough study of the process and costs involved. Note, this refers only to the application fee. It is only one you are required to pay when applying for a passport renewal. However, there are some optional fees and additional expenses that you may incur when getting your passport renewed. These will be discussed briefly.

Optional Passport Fees

Overnight Delivery - The U.S. Department of State offers overnight delivery of renewed passports for those who wish to have their travel documents sent to them in a speedy manner. The cost of this service is only $12.72 at the time of writing.

File Search - Applicants who have lost the document which they previously submitted as evidence of United States citizenship, can include a written request for a file search with their application. This fee is $150. If your document was a birth certificate, you may want to consider applying for a certified copy through the vital records office of the state or county in which you were born. It would certainly be a lot less expensive. A problem arises when you need to get your passport renewed quickly. Not every county or state offers expedited services. Those that do not can sometimes take several weeks to issue a certified copy. If you cannot wait this long, a file search may be the best solution.

Expedited Service - Routine processing takes 4-6 weeks. If you need to renew your passport more quickly, you can pay the $60 fee for expedited service. By doing this, you can get your travel document in up to 3 weeks if you submit the form by mail or as fast as the same day if you personally submit it at a regional agency.

Additional Expenses Related to Passport Renewals

Passport Photo - Only one picture is not required. Even so, you probably will not find a location that will make only one photo. For example, you will pay $7.99 at CVS for two pictures.

Postage and Handling - You are going to have to pay to mail your application, previously issued passport, photo and payment. The method you choose to do this will affect the amount you pay. The State Department recommends using a traceable delivery method. You can request signature or confirmation delivery. For fast delivery, you need to choose priority or express mail. Postage fees can run from a few dollars to upwards of $50, depending on where you live and the services you request.

Travel Expenses - Applicants who apply for expedited service at a regional processing center will have extra expenses. These might include transportation, parking, meals and, even, lodging. Of course, personal delivery of the application and supporting documents means you will not have any mail delivery fees.

Registered Expediter Services - Those who need to renew passports in less than two weeks but are unable to get to a regional agency can authorize a registered expediting service to submit the applications for them. Expediters charge a few for this service which ranges from approximately $79 to get the renewal in about 10 days to $299 to have the application processed the same day.

As you can see, there are many more fees and expenses other than the passport renewal application fee that you might need to pay in order to get your travel document renewed. It will cost you more if you wait until the last minute and require the assistance of a professional service to get expedited passport renewal. Apply early so that your total expenses do not go far beyond the basic US passport renewal fee.

Visit U.S. Passport Service Guide to download applications and get step-by-step instructions on how to renew a passport. Applicants with urgent travel plans can check out our guide to getting expedited passport renewals.

Skip Machu Picchu, Go Horseback Riding Instead

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Horseback riding can be a great way to escape the city and explore the countryside. Nowhere is this more true than in Cusco, where you can escape the crowds before or after your visit to Machu Picchu.

When you go riding in the so-called civilized world, the United States for example, you quickly realize how far things have come from the days of the Wild West. Everywhere you go there are fences and gates and places where it's forbidden to pass. Instead of taking a ride in the countryside, you are forced to go down specific designated trails.

There's also the issue of safety or, more accurately put, liability. Unless you can prove yourself to be an experienced rider, you will be on a slow placid mount that has done the same trail day after day and is basically just following the tail of the horse in front of it. Yes, you are riding a horse. But it's kind of like being on a breathing merry go round.

In Peru, you don't have all those fences and you also don't have to pass an equestrian exam to be put on a horse that has some personality. "The Mystic Tour", one of the most common tours sold in Cusco is one that encompasses sites that aren't on the standard city tour and do not require a Boleto Turistico, or Tourist Ticket, necessary for many other attractions.

Make sure that the tour will include the Temple of the Moon and the Balcon del Diablo, the Devil's Balcony. The Balcon del Diablo is a window in a cave through which you can see some running water below. It's a cool structure but that's not really the highlight of this tour. The highlight for me is that there are wide-open spaces where you can gallop.

You won't need to pull out your riding academy ID card for this. Basically, they are going to ask you, "Do you know how to ride." "Yes." "Do you want to gallop?" "Yes." And then you will get introduced to some unassuming looking horse that the guide will assure you is calm and won't give you any trouble whatsoever. That will have some equally unassuming name like Jirafa.

The moral of that story is... don't say you want to gallop if you really don't. And don't say you can ride if you can't or don't have a lot of experience unless you are ready for the Peruvian mountain horse's version of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. There won't be anyone to sue if you fall (my horse actually fell in a ditch) but it is so much better than Disneyland.

Cusco and the surrounding area offers much more than the regular Machu Picchu packages. Talk to your travel agent about arranging something a little more unusual, either before or after you enjoy your Machu Picchu tour package.

Top Sites to Visit on a Berlin School Trip

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Teachers considering going overseas for a school trip should look at the historical attractions and sights that Berlin has to offer.

The German capital has a rich history and there is much for students to learn from a visit to the German capital, as those who do head to this part of Europe will undoubtedly come away with a greater sense of historical perspective.

One sight that you should certainly include on a trip to the city is the Berlin Wall, the most important symbol of the former division of Germany. Parts of the wall can still be seen in a number of locations, with the longest at the East Side Gallery.

This runs between Ostbahnhof and Warschauer Strasse and is over 1 km in length. It was originally painted by over 100 international and German artists just after reunification.

Don't forget to include a trip to the Stasi Museum on travel agendas, either. This exhibition space is dedicated to the former Soviet secret police, who worked in the city during the Communist era.

Aside from viewing the numerous exhibits to be found here, you can also book a place on one of a series of lectures on a range of topics, including the Stasi's work in West Germany, suppression and resistance in the German Democratic Republic and youth in the republic.

Another important site to include on historical tour itineraries is the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp. This was the principal concentration camp for Berlin, one of the most notorious of the entire Nazi empire. It was run by a number of notable officers of the SS, some of whom went on to command Auschwitz and Majdanek in Poland.

Elsewhere, Schloss Sanssouci, the former summer palace of Frederick the Great, is well worth a visit. Built in the Rococo style, the highlights of this UNESCO World Heritage Site include the Voltaire Room, which has lots of carvings of flowers, fruits and birds, as well as the white and gold Marble Hall and the numerous paintings by Antoine Watteau.

You should also make your way to Alexanderplatz. Here, your pupils will be able to learn all about the famous TV tower - also known as the Tele-spargel or the Fernsehturm - which is one of the biggest structures in Europe.

Built in 1969, the tower has a revolving restaurant in the iconic sphere, with a viewing platform 203 metres up, which pupils are sure to want to access for some great views of Berlin.

Looking for the perfect destination for history school trips? Why not book a school trip to Berlin with Equity School Travel? Your pupils are sure to learn much on a break to the German capital.

Some road trips even have camping and hiking activities available along the way. Let's take a look at some of the most beautiful and scenic routes to travel in the state of MN.

One of the most famous and gorgeous roads in Minnesota is the Veterans Evergreen Memorial Drive which leads to the city of Duluth. Along the way you will find lots of attractions such as camping and lots of small rivers that are perfect for canoeing. Vietnam: The Mekong Delta Became a New Magnet for Tourists in Vietnam

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

If you travel to the Mekong Delta you have the possibility to see a lot, because there are so many tourist attractions. The most famous attractions are the floating markets in Cai Be and Cai Rang (close to Can Tho) and the floating villages near Long Xuyen and Chau Doc. When you visit the floating villages you can see something quite curious: fish farms under floating houses. Other tourist attractions are Khmer pagodas, Khmer settlements and Khmer relics, which you can visit on your way to Cambodia.

There is no better way to explore the Mekong Delta and to learn something about the local daily life, as on board a river cruiser. You will have an absolutely impressive view from the river, where you can see traditional wooden freight ships, shipyards and of course the magnificent landscape along the river. You have the option to travel through the Delta by car as well, but you will never see as much as on board a river cruiser.

A real insider tip is Sa Dec, which is a charming colonial town. Until now there are not many tourists travelling to this little village, although it has a lot to offer: a busy and authentic market at the river and a lot of architecture from the colonial period. Besides you can find the original settings from the autobiagraphic novel "The Lover" from Marguerite Duras, which is a real highlight of Sa Dec. The village is also famous for its flower gardens. Even in colonial times Sa Dec was known as the "Garden of Cochinchina". The Mekong Delta offers besides its colorful cultural landscape with lush orchards and paddy fields a lot for nature lovers. There are many national parks like e.g. the bird sanctuary Bang Lang or the Cajeput forest.

Most tourists choose a one-day trip through the Mekong Delta and travel from Saigon to Ben Tre. During such a day trip you won't have the chance to see much of the river, that's why a two or three day trip is a better option. The perfect way to travel in the Mekong Delta is a cruise vessel, because there aren't that many high standard hotels. You can choose between many different cruise vessels. In addition to various suppliers for traditional curises, there are also providers for tours that last several days (two to six days) in small comfortable boats, which allow individual travel arrangements.

The Mekong Delta has a perfect geographical position to continue your travels northwards to Cambodia (Phnom Penh and Angkor Wat / Siem Reap) or to travel to the holiday island Phu Quoc. There are daily flights from Can Tho to Phu Quoc. Another option is to go by ferry from Rach Gia, but this will take you several time longer. Phnom Penh can be easily reached from Chau Doc by speed-boat.

The Mekong Eyes offer a private atmosphere for four people with various combination possibilities, perfect for everybody who would like to cruise the Mekong in style. Visit for Mekong Delta River Cruise.

It seems like an uphill task, as there are numerous forms and procedures to be followed. In most cases professional agencies can assist you in the procedure.

According to the US Department of State, applications in person must be completed when the applicant is applying for the very first time, the applicant's previous passport was issued when he/she was under age 16, prior passport has been reported lost/stolen/damaged, or the applicant's last passport was issued 15 years ago and finally if the applicant has undergone a name change and is unable to provide legal documentation for the same. Space Tourism - The Malaysian March

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Introduction to Space Tourism

Space tourism refers mainly to the visitation of locations outside earth. Unlike other kinds of tourism, this kind of tourism is relatively still a dream for many. Space travel itself has been around for more than 40 years since man first attempted space flights and then landed on the moon.

Its technology is radically different from any other type of tourism-related technology - maybe because it's a relatively new frontier just as when the airplane emerged - hence, it remains within the purview of government and a few agencies.

Space exploration is motivated by man's quest to understand and harness the limitless resources of space. Governments have generally dominated space activities mainly for military, scientific and communication purposes.

Experts with many years of studying and practicing are the only recognized voice when it comes to space issues. For the past thirty years, ordinary people have watched to see when space will be opened up to the public to investigate just as any tourist investigates its destination unimpeded.

This is the birth of space tourism. Space tourism itself is not an easy venture to manage since the broad requirements for such a tourism venture involve technology and conditions vastly different from earth conditions.

Fundamentals of Space Tourism

Space tourism is an exciting venture gaining fast publicity and huge unsatisfied demand. Before this excitement can be realized, the fundamentals of space travel must be sorted.

These fundamentals include:
Finance - payment for servicesTraining - familiarity with space conditions, transportation systems and possible activities applicable to touristTransportation - launch sites, space vehiclesAccommodation - Docking stations e.g. international space station

Finance is currently a big factor in space tourism quite outside the reach of ordinary citizens who would be willing to travel to space. The first private citizen to travel to space for a week stay in the international space station (ISS) - Dennis Tito - paid a whooping US$20 million to get aboard the Russian Soyuz.

Since then, a few individuals have joined him. However, according to Virgin Galactic - one of the enterprising companies offering commercial space travel - the cost of traveling to space currently (as at 2011) stands at US$200,000 with a US$20,000 deposit. If you intend to stay for a week, the budget might as well skyrocket into the millions of dollars.

The US$200,000 might not be a huge amount compared to the millions of dollars fare paid by the pioneer space tourists but is still out of reach for most people.

Moreover, training is an important part of space tourism. The Russian Federal Space Agency provides up to six months training before a space tourist is finally approved for a space tour. This is part of the huge financial cost including physical test and fitness inspections, familiarization with the powerful G-forces during take-off and landing, zero gravity simulations and lots more.

Furthermore, transportation to space follows after successful completion of the training. Launch sites and reliable spacecrafts must be in place to provide space tours when required. So far, the Russian Soyuz has been the only space vehicle to convey space tourists to the international space station (ISS) and back but this vehicle was not specifically designed as a space tourism vehicle.

Many space tour agencies are lobbying the Russians to build a custom space tourism spacecraft to enable more space tourist visit the International space station (which is approximately 200 mile above earth) and beyond or perhaps help drive the tour cost down. This is a work in progress for everyone and every space loving organization and government. Cheap, reliable and safe transportation to space is the single most problematic part of the space tourism equation.

Additionally, accommodation issues must be sorted and it presents exciting possibilities in space. Currently, accommodation remains the International space station. However, the ISS was not designed for this purpose.

Therefore, the request for space hotels for tourist is the clamor and sure enough, there are answers. Bigelow Aerospace is gearing up for an independent mini space station of space tourists complete with its complex for the whole space tour. Hilton hotels is also voicing out its interest. With accommodation in space, is there any limitation for other businesses? The imagination of man holds the answer.

Furthermore, space tourism destinations can be either sub-orbital or orbital travels. Sub-orbital space travel includes traveling some kilometers outside earth but not into the orbit of another body such as another planet or moon.

On the other hand, orbital travels involve more than sub-orbital travels. This travel includes entering the orbits of other bodies in space or even other galaxies. Man has a lot of experience with sub-orbital travels for decades and this is what will be exploited in preparation for the private citizens' space tourism industry.

Many governments including Malaysia are either increasing awareness or beginning to develop these fundamentals to prepare for the exciting future of space tourism.

Overview of Malaysian Tourism

The Malaysian tourism industry is a progressive and successful one. It aspires to be an international tourism destination. According to the 2010 United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Report, Malaysia ranked 9th in international tourist arrivals, welcoming 24.6 million visitors through its doors. The impact of these efforts resulted in international tourism receipt of RM 56.5 billion in 2010.

Foundation of Space Tourism in Malaysia

Development and oversight of space activities is championed by the Malaysian National Space Agency (ANGKASA). This government agency seeks to develop the country's potential in the space sector. The foundation for space activities in Malaysia resides in the operation of the Malaysian space center that trains, monitors and operates space equipments, experiments and develops young talents for future space activities.

The Malaysian National Space Agency is mostly concerned practically with science and science-related activities at the moment. However, space tourism activities are gearing up to raise sufficient awareness for the public to develop interest in the sector. The government is also sponsoring various competitions to encourage interest and participation in the sector.

Considering space activity involvement from the governments' perspective, the Malaysian government has shown a lot of interest in space activities such as developing space research infrastructure, partnerships with international space agencies, promotional activities and jointly sponsoring commercially rewarding experiments.

This includes research on micro gravity sciences, space weather and scientific payload effects as indicated on the Malaysian National Space Agency website. The foundation for space activity is set which allows the natural occurrence of space tourism activities.

Prospects of Space Tourism in Malaysia and Implications for students

Space activity is gaining momentum in Malaysia. As Malaysia approaches its vision of becoming a developed country by 2020, the space sector is bound to expand. As with other progressive sectors, private sector involvement is critical if space tourism is to find its place in Malaysia.

The space tourism sector in Malaysia is at the awareness stage leaving a whole new sector open to be harnessed by anyone. The space tourism sector will require a lot of boost to grow as with other tourism sectors. This growth begins from the national policy on space activities.

Where such policies is inclusive to Malaysians, attractive to regional and international investors and practical to the global demand for sustainable space tourism, Malaysia will be on the path to exploiting the limitless reaches of space. The prospects are huge but a lot of work needs to be done. Shall work-in-progress describe it?

Consider the implications for students. An untapped sector such as space tourism raises all kinds of opportunities for students of various disciplines but requires careful consideration. This is because the governments' direction in the sector will affect the attractiveness of the industry at home and by extension the success of the industry.

Nevertheless, the positive potential of the worldwide space tourism industry in the future is uncontested. Students who wish to be involved in the sector as employees will need to proceed with caution but students that want to engage in the sector as pioneers, trail blazers and/or researchers are encouraged to take the leap.

As increasing private sector involvement is encouraged by governments, private companies and individuals prepared to confront the hassles of startup will be better positioned to reap the benefits of hard work in the future.

Recommendations

The following recommendations if implemented by the Malaysian authorities will accelerate the interest and development of space tourism in Malaysia;
Development of a clearer, more visible and practical space policy that communicates the benefits of space tourism to all MalaysiansDevelopment of more learning facilities to train Malaysians on space related activities with a focus on future space tourism industryProviding adequate incentives for student interested in space tourism and related space activitiesSustaining space related interest in secondary school students to prepare for the future space tourism industryDeveloping appropriate feedback mechanisms to gain insight into peoples interest in space related issuesDevelop plans to attract or retain young international talents to beef up development of the sectorEncourage more private businesses and tertiary institutions to diversify into space related product and servicesProvide more visible and accessible data on space related activities to provide incentive for further research in the sectorPromote space activities with the same vigor as other tourism sectors are promoted in MalaysiaImprove national budget on space related activities to communicate more commitment to the sector.

Conclusion

This article investigated space tourism, its foundation in Malaysia, its future and implications for students. It was found that the space activities in Malaysia is supported and promoted by the government through the National Space Agency.

Science and science-related activities were predominantly the activities of the agency. Space tourism is still at the awareness stage in the country and more work will need to be done to ensure it gains the needed momentum required to add positively to the economy.

This has huge implications for students. For example, students interested in becoming researchers and pioneers of the sector were encouraged to take a chance to contribute to the development of the sector.

Pertinent recommendations were suggested if implemented will provide the required boost to ensure Malaysia distinguishes itself in space tourism from other third world countries as quickly as it is doing in other sectors of the economy. What do you think?

Top Attractions in Soho

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

If you're keen to spend some time in one of London's most bustling areas, Soho is hard to beat.

Situated within the West End, you'll find this district offers something for everybody and with several high-quality hotels in Soho to choose from, this is certainly somewhere you should consider as both a place to visit and somewhere to stay in the capital.

For this reason, looking at 3* hotels in London in the area could be a good choice. Not only will you get a comfortable room that offers lots of extra amenities, but you'll also pay a reasonable price so that your entire budget won't be taken up by your accommodation costs.

However, it's a good idea to sort out somewhere to stay before you head down to the capital and by booking hotels in the West End you will be in a convenient position to visit one of the many nearby theatres.

Dozens of performing arts venues are situated in the vicinity but perhaps one of the best to visit is the Palace Theatre. This cultural institution has put on several top-quality productions over the years, including Monty Python's Spamalot and Les Miserables, and its ornate redbrick exterior makes it easy to spot.

You can be certain that you'll be able to watch top-class shows here, although you may also want to check to see what's on at the likes of the Criterion Theatre and the Prince Edward Theatre.

But if you'd prefer to take in some live music instead, why not head to Ronnie Scott's?

This venue mainly plays hosts to jazz acts, but singers and musicians across all genres have appeared here over the years. Jamie Cullum, Ella Fitzgerald and Jeff Beck are just some of the big names that have taken to the stage here, although Ronnie Scott's is perhaps best known for being the site of Jimi Hendrix's last show before his death in 1970.

Perhaps one of Soho's most popular attractions is Carnaby Street. Despite its name, this shopping complex spreads out across 12 streets and not only will you find a selection of well-known outlets but also several independent boutiques.

Everything from homewares and beauty products to men's fashion and shoes can be purchased here, but if you need to take a breather from hitting the shops head to one of Carnaby Street's cafes and restaurants for something to eat.

You'll also find a selection of bars and nightclubs here, so Carnaby Street can also be the location for a night out on the town and when you consider that it was at the epicentre of London's swinging 60s it should be of little surprise that this is a place where you can let your hair down and have fun! Soho is also the centre of London's gay scene, so there should a pub or club to suit most tastes.

But if you want something a little more laidback, the nearby Trocadero complex could make for a relaxing, yet no less fun, evening. Located near Piccadilly Circus, the building has a cinema and crazy golf course, not to mention several floors of arcade games.

Whatever you get up to in Soho, there's a good chance you'll work up an appetite. However, you needn't venture out of the district in order to sample high-end cuisine, as there are several award-winning eateries where you can dine.

These include Gauthier Soho, which serves modern French fare and has secured a Michelin star as well as a whole host of prestigious accolades.

No matter whether you're searching for a great night out, keen to spend an evening at the theatre or simply want to enjoy fabulous shopping before tucking into dinner at a top-quality restaurant, Soho offers everything you could possibly want.

If you are searching for hotels in Soho, come to AboutRooms.com.

Visit us and you can check out a range of 3* hotels in London - including hotels in the West End - so you can be sure you'll be close to this vibrant, bustling district.

Travel On A Budget Without Making These Mistakes

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Budget travelers are increasing by the minute. More and more people are getting into the bandwagon of shoestring traveling because of all the perks that come with it. The best perk is of course to enjoy a vacation without having to spend a lot. Of course, like with any other good thing, this one has some drawbacks too that you need to keep an eye on if you don't want to end up having a disastrous vacation. Here are some tips on how to keep things right during your budget travel.

Trading safety or cleanliness for a cheap hotel price

When looking for a hotel, it's okay to sacrifice small things to cut down the price. For example, you might opt to get a smaller room or a room without a flat screen TV just to pay less. That's all right. But never sacrifice safety or cleanliness for this. If you're reading online reviews and you find out that the hotel is plagued with bed bugs or the rooms are unbearably smelly, don't take the risk and go find something better. If you find out that the overly cheap hotel you're thinking of booking is located in a shady part of the city, don't endanger your safety to save cash. You might end up losing even more money when you get mugged or get hospitalized after catching a disease.

Under packing to travel light

Some airline tickets that are of discounted rates don't allow as much baggage weight as regular plane tickets. This is why, many tourists make the mistake of under packing and then ending up buying clothes or things in the vacation destination, which costs them more in the long run. There's nothing wrong with packing light but you must not under pack. There's a big difference between the two. With the former, you are able to bring all the things that you need by employing some creative tactics such as packing multi-purpose items or including clothes that are easy to wash. The latter, meanwhile, means packing insufficiently for the trip.

Going during off peak season

It's a common advice for budget travelers to go travel during the off-peak season. And that's actually a very good way to save money. But what some people do wrong is that they go to the place at the wrong time. For example, if you're planning to have a beach vacation, it's not a good idea to book your flight during the winter just so you can save money. How can you expect to have fun at the beach when you're shivering cold? It's all right to avoid the peak season like the summer or spring break, but at least schedule your vacation during a time when the sun is out to shine on you.

Getting the cheapest travel insurance

Visitor medical insurance or visitors health insurance is essential to any trip. While it would be smart to shop around to find good rates, it's a bad idea to get the cheapest in the market that doesn't have sufficient coverage. Be sure to get a plan that has everything you need to be covered for your trip.

Visiting Northern California - Beautiful Bodega Bay

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

Many people that visit California tend to focus more on the common tourist areas, such as San Francisco but not too far away from that area is the Sonoma coast, including the Bodega Bay area. This area gives you many different ways to enjoy yourself and to have a relaxing vacation, being able to escape much of the stresses that we tend to experience on a daily basis. Although there are countless things that can be done in this area, here are some of the more common that you may want to try for yourself.

As far as the beaches and parks are concerned, there are quite a few that should not be missed. Pinnacle beach is perhaps one of the more popular areas and they give you quite a dramatic view of the coastline. Additionally, this beach offers solitude which is something that many people that are visiting the Bodega Bay area tend to want to experience. Bodega Head is perhaps a better choice, however, when you have young ones with you. It gives them the opportunity to play in the water without you having to worry about the dangers that tends to be in the other areas along this section of coastline. While in that area, be sure to look for the "hole in the head", which is a 12 story hole that was excavated by a power company to include a nuclear reactor. After protests, this was stopped.

If you enjoy fishing, you will really have the opportunity to take advantage of this as well. Halibut, Salmon and Ling Cod are just a few of the many fish that are available in this area. You would also want to consider the possibility of spending some time on the water to watch the whales that are in the area. In some cases, you will be able to incorporate a whale watching trip along with the fishing trip in order to have the best of both worlds.

There are various places where you can enjoy some lodging in the area as well. These will include various hotels, as well as some bed and breakfasts and villas that should not be overlooked. There is plenty of information that is available about these various items online and you can easily research this so that you choose something that will be to your specific liking. I'm sure that you'll enjoy choosing something that can give you a view of the coastline and easy access to the area, including the surrounding area which can be explored at your leisure.

One other thing that you may enjoy is the fact that the Alfred Hitchcock movie, The Birds, was filmed in the area. There is plenty of information that is available which can help you to see some of the locations where the filming took place. This will help to enhance your appreciation of the area and make it more interesting for you to do some additional sightseeing during the time that you are staying.

The Puncture Movie Is A Thrilling Legal Drama That Should Not Be Missed

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

If you are a movie fan that is into actual real life stories, the Puncture Movie is not only true, it is very difficult to believe that something like this could still go on in America. Essentially, the movie details a scam that was perpetuated on every American citizen, forcing all of us to pay more in medical bills because of it.

In the early 1990's, an inventor named Jeffrey Dancort's came up with a new type of syringe. It stopped doctors and nurses that administered shots to patients, from getting accidently stuck by the needle. This was extremely important at the time, because it was the height of the HIV and AIDS phobia, which was sweeping across the world.

The doctors and nurses that tried out the device were quite impressed with it, and wanted to use it. The National Institute of Health even gave the inventor a grant to help improve it. But, when he tried to sell it to the hospitals, he could not even get his foot in the door.

He quickly found out about an unethical business empire called the Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs), which stopped any products from being introduced to hospitals that were not from companies that they represented.

This is when he turned to the attorney's, Michael Weiss who is played by Chris Evans, and Paul Danziger who is played by Mark Kassen, who is one of the directors. Chris Evans is also the star in the upcoming Captain America movie.

In the movie Michael Weiss is portrayed a drug crazed cocaine freak, who is relentless in his pursuit of justice in the case. Although many parts of the legal case were thoroughly researched and quite accurate, the dialog between the lawyers and their relationship is left up to the discretion of the writer, directors, and the producers.

In Puncture the movie, the other attorney Paul Danziger is almost an exact opposite from his partner. He is an extremely organized individual, which disagrees with many of Michael Weiss personal habits.

The screenwriter Chris Lopata did a wonderful job of intermingling the lawsuit, which was real, with the sometime fictional take on the lives of the lawyers. If you are one of those who enjoys seeing injustice exposed by the little guy, then there is little doubt that you will truly appreciate this film.

Whether the Puncture Movie does justice to the actual real life lawsuit will be left up to the viewer. That being said, if you enjoy legal types of movies, where there is high drama both inside and outside of the courtroom, then it is a must see. It is doubtful due to the nature of the material that it will be winning any academy awards anytime soon, but that is not to say that the movie is not very riveting and exciting. This movie is perfect for the fan that enjoys see conflicting personalities maintain their working relationship, despite being placed in extremely difficult and stressful situations.

Are you looking to get more information on the Puncture Movie and when its coming out? If so, you can check out the movie Puncture online at PunctureMovie.com immediately!

Top 5 Tips To Help You on Your Driving Lessons

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

When you first start your driving lessons it can be fun but also very scary at the same time. All new drivers will be excited for their first experience behind the wheel; however there are a number of precautions that you will need to take.

1. When you begin driving your instructor will give you the opportunity to take safety courses there are a number of them available and you should aim to take as many as possible. The benefits associated with taking such tests are that once you have your license insurance companies will give you a discount because you are seen as less of a risk.

2. Before you move the car the very first thing that you should do is to adjust the mirrors so that you can easily see what is to the left, right and the back of you. Your next step will be to adjust the seats so that you can reach the pedals comfortably without stretching or so that your knees are not cramped upwards. Also be sure to adjust the head rest so that it is resting on your head and not on your neck. Finally adjust the steering wheel so that it is at a comfortable level.

3. Pay close attention to traffic laws that you have learned in the classroom and studied from the theory test book. Anytime you arrive at a stop sign you must come to a complete stop; when you are approaching a yellow light you should slow down and not speed up in attempt to jump the red light. Obey any signs and pay attention to all speed limits. By following these basic traffic laws you are avoiding receiving tickets, having your insurance raised and most importantly getting into an accident.

4. You should get as much practice as you possibly can outside of lesson times. Make sure that whoever you choose to practice with is a qualified driver with a full license.

5. Take on board any criticism that you are given as it will only aid in enhancing your skills on the road if you make the necessary changes. You should also practice in all weather situations so that you are not taken by surprise when you are on your own and there is a sudden change in the weather.

If you take on board all of these instructions you should have very successful driving lessons.

In a diverse landscape that is India, it is not surprising to tour bustling cities, idyllic beaches, lush plantations or the arid desert. Rajasthan, the biggest state of India is home to the Thar desert which borders the magnificent cities of Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, to name a few. While treks to the fabulous forts and palaces are fascinating part of any travel plan, the camel safari to the desert, either for a sunset or overnight trip, remains an unsurpassed experience. The gentle ships of the desert allow the rider to enjoy wonderful views, not possible from the ground, while presenting a challenge to remain seated on the humps, especially for the inexperienced visitors.

Mehendi

Traditionally used on the hands of the Indian bride and bridegroom, the mehendi paste is made from the henna powder known for its rich blood-red dye. It is said that the depth of the redness indicates how much the bride loves her husband to be. Elaborate designs beautify the brides' palms and fingers, The groom usually spots maroon topped fingers as the henna paste is left to cover the finger tips and mounds of the paste left to make dyed spots in circular arrangement on his palms. Now mehendi can be sported on any festive occasions by the ladies and visitors, on tour to any region of India, should have a go at their hands decorated in rich red patterns that are created in free-flow. The temporary dye has a strong smell but not pungent. The deep colour will wear off in days unlike the memory of mehendi covered hands.

Bollywood Movies

The industry that produces majority of movies released worldwide and with glamorous and incredibly good-looking celebrities and talented artistes, is the Mumbai magnet, drawing visitors and starlets looking for their big break. Catching a Bollywood movie on the big screen will certainly bring the larger than life characters, literally larger and more poignant. The most glitzy costumes, with song and dance of revelry and credible acting is something to savor up close. With so much to enjoy and explore, many have gladly agreed that a single tour to India is never enough to experience all that the incredible land has to offer. And repeated travel visits will not in any way, diminish the amazing allure of incredible India.

The Cost of the Expat Summer Holiday

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

The air of excitement that we all felt while waiting at the airport to go home for the summer holidays was noticeable everywhere. It was 11pm, 2 weeks into the summer holidays and yet the airport was still crowded with expats on their way home for the 2 - 3 month holiday period to destinations all over the world.

It is the strangest sensation, leaving your home behind. Locking the doors and knowing that you will not be back in your own home for that period of time.

Before we became expats we would never have considered such a long holiday, that would have been insane. Now after 3 years, it is normal. We either ship the animals into a boarding home or get a house sitter, cover as much as we can to keep it clean while we are away, say goodbye to friends and neighbors, arrange to meet family and friends on the other side and off we go.

Those first two weeks are the best, catching up with family and old friends that have known you forever, that know your quirks, bad and good points. Getting back into the groove of your home country, slang, driving and food, which takes approximately 1 minute. Settling down to a good home cooked breakfast that you can only get and have cooked as you have always known it to be.

You book every doctor you can think of to ensure that all your routine medicals are completed before you go home. These lead to more medicals and you spend another two weeks running from pillar to post ensuring everyone goes back to your host country healthy and happy.

You try and visit all the local historical sites, places of interest and fun parks to ensure that the kids are having fun and are being educated along the route. You cram in as much time with Gran, Grandad, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and any other form of relative you can find so that the children can have the time in these 2 months with their family that they have missed out on over the last 10. Old friends are gathered together for catch ups, school and uni friends of your own, school friends of your children, work mates, and friends that you have made over the years and in the rush you find the excitement exhilarating. Shopping becomes fun as you hit all the old haunts and stock up on little delicacies you cannot find in your host country. In our case that would be pork and having a glass of wine at a side cafe.

That is usually our first port of call, to find a restaurant at the airport as we land and have a good old English Breakfast of Bacon, egg, bangers, tomato and toast. Then as the weeks pass, there would be the obligatory spare ribs, bangers and mash, pork rashers and pork chops and last but not least a good pork roast. Having said that these 2 months fill you up for the next 10.

Unfortunately during this time, your partner has to go back to work. Most partners manage 3 or 4 weeks with the family, or do 2 weeks on and then go back and work and come back for another 2 weeks. This is the period which I call the bachelor / ette time, where the host country sees a menagerie of single people floating around. They seem lost and without focus and tend to gather around in groups, not quite knowing what they should be doing and where they should be going. Lost phone calls make their way to the home country, of days of missing family and spouses, of missing the constant noise in the house, of missing the mess and rushed breakfasts. On the other hand, some partners love the time apart to chill, go out and have no responsibilities but for themselves. The spouse in the home country also misses the normality of home life, but is in essence still in the romantized dream of catch up.

It is not all roses though, unless you have a home in your own country, you are living with family and out of suitcases. If you are traveling, you are living in hotel rooms. It is a long time to be away from home.

Then there is the time to come home. To pack and say your goodbyes, knowing that you will not see everyone again for a long time. It is an idolized lifestyle. You are the expat, the one with the exciting life, the one that has taken the initiative to embrace change. This does not stop the tears though, each goodbye has its own lonely heartbreak, as you see your children hug their grandparents and cousins that they love so much. As you cling on to your parents and siblings, knowing that you will only touch again in a very long time to come. It is tough. One of the tougher holidays to go home for, as it is longer and you settle back into your home country routine again, things are comfortable and familiar, you know the shops, the people, the roads, the customs.

You say your goodbyes and at the airport on the way home the kids start chatting about their rooms, their toys, their friends, their new school year and after school activities. They talk about what they are going to do in the new school year and how much they are looking forward to the new challenges. You think of your own challenges, your own room, your own new friends and you know that it is fun and that you are going to embrace the new school year with vigor and enthusiasm to match those of your children.

As an expat how was your holiday? Did you go home, travel the world? What did you do?

Smart Tips for Last Minute Vacations

AppId is over the quota

Are you planning a getaway at the last minute? If yes, there are many things that you need to consider while booking tickets for your chosen destination. Mentioned below are some key points and smart tips that can help you to plan your last minute vacation smoothly and effectively without burning a hole in your budget.

Search for best deals

Sometimes airlines advertise discount packages on their respective website. There are also many online travel agencies that offer great saving deals on domestic and international flights. Hence, it is crucial to search and compare the deals that various agencies and airlines offer for your chosen destination. After comparing several deals, you can choose the best from the lot.

Sign up for Alerts

Many online travel agencies present the option to sign up for price drop alert. It is a helpful facility, since you get instant alerts when the fare drops below a certain price or if an airline is offering a fabulous deal. So, if you plan to head to Paris and set an alert for cheap flights to Paris, you will receive a notification in your inbox as soon as the price drops for a certain flight to Paris.

Book all-inclusive packages

If you have to fly to a destination where you need to make arrangements for accommodation, you may want to consider all-inclusive vacation packages. Most of the travel agencies offer discount all-inclusive vacations packages, which take care of air ticket booking as well as car rental and accommodation. You can choose your preferences and bundle airfare with accommodation or car rental to save more money.

Select less popular airports

As far as possible, you should try to find less popular airports in the same region. If you are flying to a metropolitan city, then landing in a less popular airport can save money and you can also avoid the crowd and long queues. For instance, if you are flying to New York City, you can choose to land in any of the three major airports of the city - JFK, LaGuardia and Newark in New Jersey.

Call the airline helpdesk/travel agent

If time is not on your side, then you can directly call the airline's helpdesk and inquire about good deals to your chosen destination. You can also try booking flight through an agent who can fulfill your requirements at a reasonable price. These are old-school methods, but they can get the job done quickly.

Be open to options

Last but not the least, it is crucial to be flexible with options while planning a last minute vacation. Maybe you will not get your favorite seat on the plane, or you may even have to board the flight at wee hours of the night. But, you need to compromise on certain preferences to get best rates and availability of seats and accommodation. You can also think out of the box to make the most of your dream vacation. For example, you can take a cruise in Cancun, rather than staying in a beachside resort. The possibilities are endless!

Planning ahead isn't always possible. So for last minute vacations that don't burn a hole in your pocket, visit FlightNetwork.com.

The Joy of Solo Motorcycle Travel

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

"Aren't you afraid?" "Don't you get lonely?" These common questions are often the first you hear when someone finds out you're about to go on a solo motorcycle journey. While my travels pale in comparison to many others, I have covered much of Canada and the US alone. I intend to do a lot more.

Carla King, whose story is included in my forthcoming book on women, motorcycling and personal power, says "It's important to know you can go out there in the world and this wonderful, fantastic stuff is going to happen to you." She knows. She's traveled solo all over the world, on often unreliable indigenous motorcycles, among them Urals, Guzzis, Chang Jiangs and Enfields. Her website is full of stories of her solo adventures and makes for fascinating reading. But be forewarned. It may spark an irreversible urge to try something on your own!

All this is not to say I don't enjoy the company of others. Riding with one or two others can be most enjoyable. I even like riding as a passenger sometimes if it's with the right person. But solo travels are in a category all to themselves.

Here are ten characteristics that make it so good for the soul.
Independence. You are completely on your own schedule. You can go where you want, when you want. When you find a particularly appealing place and decide to stay an extra day, you can do so without messing up anyone else's plans.
Resourcefulness. You learn to be creative and find out how little you really need to get by.
Confidence. This is huge! Things happen when you're out there and you learn to manage on your own. You're forced to call on your own strength and ingenuity to sort things out. It's amazing what you learn about your capabilities.
Approachability. People approach you more readily than they would if you were with even one other person. They're fascinated, especially when they see a woman traveling alone. They are engaging and welcoming.
Receptiveness. People are more receptive to you when you approach them. You meet the most amazing people.
Preferred seating. Often when all seats are taken at a restaurant or show, there's room for one more. Or they can squeeze you in somewhere. These seats are often offered at a reduced rate as well.
Mechanical aptitude. You get to know a lot about your bike and understand it's idiosyncrasies and needs. If something is going wrong, you can often pick up early warning signs. Also builds confidence.
Serendipity. It happens when you're out there with others, but never to the same extent. At least, not that you notice.
Freedom. There is something so ultimately freeing when you're out there crossing the country; something that you only feel when you're alone.
Connection with spirit. This goes beyond freedom. It's a feeling of being alone and connected at the same time. It's more than becoming one with your bike. Something else happens when you're out there alone, moving through nature and you feel a profound interconnectedness with the universe.

If you've never tried solo travel, you owe it to yourself to do so. Start with small steps. Perhaps a half day ride. Yes it can be frightening and you may have to give yourself a pep talk before leaving. But once you're out on the open road, all that falls away. The rewards are incredible.

Happy travels!
